One of my favorite temples in Kyoto. Such a sunny day, and I took enough photos to fill an album.
Koto In
Man, I took this picture 8 gajillion times, from every angle I could think of… and I never liked it. I loved the basin, the leaves, the bamboo – loved all of it. Didn’t like the picture.
Then I realized it was the contrast of the soft wood and leaves against the stone I was really after. Hence, black and white. I like this shot now (PS in CS3 conversion from .cr2 color file, changed WB a touch) and am in the process of revisiting some of my old B&W film shots from Charleston days. Might have to bust out the scanner… or better yet some of the Ilford film I still have in the fridge.

As I await Spring here in the frozen tundra, I’m combing the archives to grab a photo from the past to fill a bit of space here. It’s so dang cold outside….
red fingers
I’m not dead yet! Just a few long, very busy weeks. More photos coming soon – promise. For now, one from the past.

It’s too cold to go shooting today, and I’m tired from traveling, and I’m whining…. So it’s a shot from the archives. Really – if the temperatures get back to a “human survivability” standard, I will go shooting again.
Temple lights
Between end of semester and this sinus-thing I can’t seem to shake (antibiotics are good for you) I’ve not been a very faithful poster. It’s hard to get out in the cold when I’m under the weather. One from the past, taken last Fall:
